When you’re marketing on Instagram, there’s a right way to do it, and a very wrong way to do it. Lol…
I’m on Instagram just about every single day. I’ve used it to build a fantastic contact list for my business. And I see some crazy things on there from time to time!
Don’t get me wrong though, I see a ton of great things, and I meet a ton of great people everyday too. But with that being said. There’s some things that you definitely want to avoid when marketing your business on Instagram. Some things that could cost you, if you’re not careful!
When you’re marketing on Instagram, make sure you’re clear on what your account is all about in your bio. A lot of people miss this one completely. I’ve seen no bio descriptions before, no links, no intentions. Just a bunch of randomness.
So make sure that you have a nice description in your bio about you, and what you intend to do with your Instagram.
When you’re marketing on Instagram, and you’re a sales representative for a larger business. You need to avoid putting their name in your username.
In fact, in most cases it’s against company policy to do that anyways.
So it’s always best to brand YOU! Use your own name or come up with your own brand. You’re building a legacy for your family right?
Chances are, your company already has it’s own Instagram account. So share your life, your results, and your ideas. It will pay off!
And when you’re marketing on Instagram, don’t pitch people on the first contact. Just because someone “liked” your picture about your business does not mean that they want to join your business.
Don’t assume anything, especially if you’ve never even said hello to that person. Yes, you should reach out to them. But try to control yourself, and build the relationship.
You’re much more likely close a sale on the back end if you’ve laid the groundwork, and built up a real friendship. People join people, simple as that. The product or service is almost always secondary. They want to buy from someone whom they already know, already like, and trust.
If you’re friends, and you became friends because you were making connections with your Instagram followers. Trust me, they will know that you’re in business, and they will join you when they’re ready!
